Great and Little Abaco is the second largest island in The Bahamas spanning 650 square miles with a population of approx. 17,000. There are two airports, plus a small landing strip in the south for smaller aircraft. Great islands for sailing and fishing with over 18 marinas and 6 Ports of Entry, the Abacos is best known as a yachtsman paradise, and has some of the best beaches in The Bahamas. The golf course at The Abaco Club is considered one of the best in the Bahamas. The Abacos bear a resemblance to New England from which it attracts so many of its visitors and second home owners. It is home to the majestic Bahama Parrot – a rare gem, nesting in sub-terrain rock cavities. Abaco is truly a unique “Out island” experience. The colonial capital is Marsh Harbour, with its quaint streets lined with historic architecture.
