Home » Andros
Andros consists of hundreds of small islets and cays but is considered the single, largest island of The Bahamas. There are three major sections; North Andros, Mangrove Cay and South Andros separated by bights and estuaries making air/sea travel the only way to commute from one end to the other. With the world’s third largest barrier reef and the Tongue of the Sea located just off its shores, Andros is known for deep sea fishing and fishing on the flats. Andros is also home to native land crabs, wild boar, and our world famous batik fabric “Androsia”. In total the island is 2,300 sq miles, 104 miles long and 40 miles wide at its widest point with a population of fewer than 8,000 people.
