Cat Island and Cat Cay

Home » Cat Island and Cat Cay
Cat Island is the sixth largest island in The Bahamas. It is some 150 sq. miles, 48 miles long and 1 to 4 miles wide and is also home to some 2,000 people – among the most friendly in all of The Bahamas. The Island holds deep historical and cultural significance in its plantations and religious buildings. It is the birthplace of The Bahamas’ indigenous Rake ‘n’ Scrape music and represents some of the country’s rich lively folklore. This island is steeped in Bahamian tradition, offering visitors an authentic experience and its rustic charm. Unlike other more developed destinations, much of Cat Island remains untouched, making it an ideal getaway for those seeking privacy, relaxation, and a laid-back lifestyle.. Here, you can truly live “off the grid” and escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. One of our famous sons, Academy Award-winning actor Sir Sidney Poitier was born in lovely Cat Island.
