Located just 53 miles east of Miami, Florida, Bimini is comprised of three islands, North Bimini, South Bimini, and East Bimini. It is a friendly place with an estimated population of over 2,000 people. North Bimini is home to several trendy resorts and casinos, with the Hilton at Resorts World Bimini. It also offers many full-service marinas and several Ports Of Entry. The real estate development in the islands has led to the resurgence in tourist arrivals. Bimini-based realtors describe the island’s high-end property market as “red hot” with fresh developments such as the Illa Bimini Resort and Residences emerging to meet an ever-growing demand with a substantial increase in high-end property purchases over the past five years. Investors are increasingly interested in the convenience of bay-front concepts and docking at canal front homes. The Bimini Islands are well known for big game fishing. Its surrounding waters are considered the world’s best destination for sport fishing, and other water sports. It is said that Martin Luther King Jr. visited Bimini during his lifetime to find inspiration to work on his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech. Another prominent person who fell in love with Bimini, was the American novelist, Ernest Hemmingway who purportedly wrote part of his novel, ‘The Old Man and The Sea’ in Bimini.
